Police tape cordons off a section of Winona Drive, outside a low-rise housing complex where a man, residents say is linked to the white BMW sedan seen here, was shot and killed early Tuesday morning.聽
Both were transported to hospital, where the man was pronounced dead.
An unknown number of suspects fled in a vehicle, say police. A homicide investigation is now underway, but police did not provide any additional details. A friend of the dead man, who did not want to be named, said the woman was released from hospital with minor injuries after she was grazed by a bullet. She added that the deceased man was a father of two young boys.

In the aftermath of the shooting, Tuesday morning, police were observed towing a white BMW sedan from the scene, while several residents from the Winona Drive lowrise housing complex looked on. Firefighters then sprayed water across the crime scene to clean the bloodstained sidewalk and street.
A female resident was overheard complaining to the police that her vehicle was hit by bullets in at least two spots, while it was parked overnight on聽Winona Drive.聽
Erroll Powell, whose car was trapped behind the yellow crime scene tape used by police to cordon off a section of the roadway, near Vaughan Road, was also seen checking his vehicle for any damage. He said a white car linked to the dead man was parked right behind his car when gunshots erupted outside the complex.
Powell described the male victim, a man in his early 30s, as friendly and a 鈥渘ice guy,鈥澛爊amed Trevor.
Powell, 73, said he was woken up by a barrage of loud explosions, but out of fear that it was gunshots, decided not to venture outside until there was calm.
鈥淭his brought the violence too close to home,鈥 Powell said.
By the time Powell made it outside, at around 1:45 a.m., he said police had swarmed the area and the victims had already been taken to hospital.
鈥淚 was supposed to go to work at 2:30 a.m., but I came out and realized that I couldn鈥檛 move,鈥 he said of the chaotic scene, where police had put down more than two dozen crime scene markers.
Standing nearby, Melton Griffiths chimed in on the peace of the area being disrupted by violence, saying 鈥淚 feel this is an isolated incident, because nothing like this ever happens in this area.鈥
鈥淚 was asleep and then I heard, bam! bam! bam!,鈥 Griffiths said, adding that following the first volley of roughly four shots, there were at least a dozen more.
